During winter, the Rideau Winter Trail, which is located upon the embankment of the Rideau River, on lands managed and maintained by the National Capital Commission, is groomed in winter conditions by the Rideau Winter Trail of Ottawa, a community non-profit organization.
The trail is a prime destination for outdoor activities in the heart of Ottawa, serving the Alta Vista, Old Ottawa South, Old Ottawa East, Glebe, Vanier, Overbrook, Sandy Hill and Hurdman's Bridge neighbourhoods.
The trail can be directly accessed at 1 Donald Street next to the Rideau Sports Centre and Adàwe Crossing, at Hurdman LRT station and at Bank Street in Old Ottawa South for cross country skiing, fat biking, walking and snowshoeing.
